My invisible icecream

It was so warm last week in Melbourne that Mum allowed me to kick my little legs outside in the shade without my nappy on.

I have really discovered my hands, but I am still trying to find that thumb. It ends up in my mouth every now and then by accident, but it is still quite difficult to locate it as it hides in my little fist all the time and I have not yet figured out how to open those fingers on command

Mum thought I was eating an invisible icecream, I just think that my hands are yummy.

Another Passport

I told you all before that I received my Australian passport, which means that I am a real Aussie kid. This morning Dad told me that my Dutch passport also had arrived, which would mean that I am also Dutch. In the picture below you can see that it confused me quite a bit.

Sydney!!!

Exciting times... I am only 101 days old and I have already been on a plane twice! This weekend we went to Sydney, because Mum and Dad had to attend a Boehringer-Ingelheim dinner. Mum already works there now for 5 years and the company arranged a special Pentagon dinner in the Quay Restaurant (a very fancy restaurant in Sydney with views on the Harbour bridge and the Opera house).
So we left Friday afternoon to the airport, Mum and Dad were a bit excited to see how I would cope with the travel...I guess it was a bit of a practice session for our trip to Europe in December. I was again on my best behaviour and really enjoyed the business lounge.
I was not too impressed with air travel... but I thought it was a good time to catch up on some sleep. I even forgot to enjoy the views! Mum woke me up when we landed in Sydney... Both Mum and Dad were quite happy with me taking a nap during the flight and they now actually look forward to the flights in December.
Rami was there with his beautiful shiny car (with rear facing car seat for me) to pick us up
from the airport and dropped us off at the hotel, where I immediately claimed the bed (Dad can sleep on the floor, hihi) and played for a while.

Aunty Laura arrived at the hotel at about 545pm and I was very happy to see her again! She was taking care of me on Friday night when Mum and Dad were enjoying their fancy pancy dinner.

Laura and I had great fun (I was a bit cranky at first, but that was just my wind), she gave me a bottle and at 815pm I fell asleep. Lucky for Laura, because now she had some time to read her book, how thoughtful of me!
Mum and Dad had great food and fun (beer and wine) and came back to the hotel at round 1130PM, I was sound asleep and had another surprise for Mum and Dad... I decided to sleep through the night!!! I woke up on Saturday morning at 630, ready for a new day full of adventures...

First thing we had to do on Saturday was breakfast...not too exciting for me so I decided to do another power-nap...

During my nap, I quickly showed Dad that I found my thumb! Looks pretty cool don't you think?

Mum and Dad had promised me that we would check out the Cruise ship that was in the Harbour and that we would go to the Rocks Market! I thought it was too hot to really bother so I just slept the whole way and saved my energy to smile at Mum and Dad when we played in the park.

Later that afternoon Aunty Anastasia came to visit us...she brought me some awesome gifts...I really like her :)
After another good night sleep we walked around in Sydney on Sunday, but it was raining and not so pleasant. Dad told me that this was also good practice as the weather in the Netherlands is also not great, especially in December.
Mum and Dad had a quick bite to eat in Darling Harbour and Dad just quickly changed my nappy...

We flew back to Melbourne at 630pm and I was happy to be back in my own  bed... what an adventure...

My playmates

I had a big playweek last week and arranged a lot of play dates for myself, because I think it is important that Mum gets out of the house. Also I don't like being indoors all the time, I like to see different faces all the time, because they make me laugh. I will tell you all about the fun I had last week.

On Monday Mum and I went to visit Kirsten and Kaelan in Barwon Heads. Barwon Heads (next to Geelong) is about 1h20min drive from Melbourne.
We left after my playtime at home in the morning. After my nap in the car we arrived around midday in Barwon Heads. Kaelan was still asleep, so I played a bit by myself and Mum and Kirsten were chatting away ( because that's what Mums do).
Luckily Kaelan woke up in the afternoon and we could play together (well I am not really playing yet, but getting there). Kaelan is now 7 months old and has grown heaps since last time I saw him. He is already rolling around and was showing me how to play and roll.

                                                            Me and Kaelan

On Wednesday we had Mums and Bubs group at our house, that was lots of fun.

                                                         Mum Kate and Mum Tonya
Mum Kristie, Nanna Helen (holding me) and Mum Thu
                                                                        Me and Jai
                                                                             Alvin
                                                                  Georgia
                                                      Connor

On Thursday Mum and I went down to Elwood to catch up with Charlie and his Mum Mel. It was a beautiful sunny day so we went to the park and the beach. We had a nice picknick and I was allowed to enjoy some playtime in the sun/shade. It was great to have short sleeves and no pants on. Can't wait until Summer really starts.

Relaxing in the shade! How cool is my hat.....

It was such a big week and the weekend is going to be even more fun!

Splashing in the bath!

Look, I love my baths Dad, I think I am ready for the pool now!
I am swimming with my legs, I am splashing with my arms, I am making cute faces and puppy eyes, I can hold my head under the splashing water in the shower, I never cry when I have soap in my eyes, what does it take to get you convinced I am ready!!!!
                                                  Next weekend, promise?

First time babysitting with Auntie Kim and Uncie Ben

Today Dad cycled 'Around The Bay in a Day', which he started at 6.00am in the city. Dad left home at around 5.00am, stocked up with rain gear, energy food and even home baked energy bars. Because Dad needs all his energy for the big ride, I decided to give him a good night sleep and have slept in one block from 9pm until 4.15am in the morning. After that me and Tigger were allowed in the big bed because it is Sunday and I will not be seeing Dad all day.

Uncie Ben and Auntie Kim offered to babysit me on Sunday, to give Mum a chance to have some me-time as well. She went to the Bikram Yoga Class again after 12 months (Hot yoga  in 37 degrees is not allowed whilst being pregnant)! She will be sore the rest of the day, haha!

Ben and Kim arrived at 8.30am and I was already being happy, smiling in my bouncer playing with my little Tiger. To make sure Mum does not forget about me, whilst she is away this morning, I managed to do an explosion nappy just before she was about to leave, so she could still take some of the nice smell with her as a little memory.

I had great fun playing with Uncie Ben and Auntie Kim. Auntie Kim even fascinated me with her new fascinator she made herself for the horse races next weekend. It was really beautiful and fascinating!
After that I had a little nap, had a little milk and played a bit more until Mum got home.

Uncie Ben even made a surprise for Mum and baked his famous Lasagna (which Mum loves), so she and Dad did not have to worry about lunch and dinner for the next 2 days. It was that much!
Uncle Ben told me the real reason for baking it and that was because he wants me to eat well and healthy and while I am still on breast milk he can only do that by feeding Mum really well. Mum did not mind at all!

After the afternoon nap we went to pick up Dad at the finish! Mum and I arrived just in time, look there is Dad waving at us , Mum was a bit slow with the picture and Dad was sprinting for the finish.
Look, he is still smiling after 210 km in 7h25min, I have got a super Dad.

Maternal Health Nurse visit #5 - 3 months

This morning at 9.00am I had my 3 month check-up with the maternal health nurse. She was very happy with my progress, especially my weight at 6.1 kg and my height at 60.7centimeters. My head circumference is also picking up at 38.7 centimeters. I have now the size of an average 3 month old baby, so have already made up the 5,5 week difference within first 3 months. I think I am going to be a biggie!

I have started to discover my big sausage roll hands and am chewing on them constantly. It is now also easier for Mum to see when I get tired as I just start rubbing my hands in my eyes and then she immediately knows to put me in bed for a nap!

I smile constantly, but only at faces. It has to be a funny face though, otherwise I am not laughing. Dad and Mum try to make a picture/video of me laughing for on my blog, but since a camera is not as amusing as a face, they have not succeeded yet. Keep trying!!!
This is the best they could do so far.

I have my Australian Passport

Today in the mail, it came, my Australian Passport, which states that I am a true Australian citizen, how cool is that!!!. It is beautifully dark blue and it has a kangaroo and an emu on it!

This passport means that I will be able to travel to Netherlands in December and even better that I can go throught the fast customs/immigration lane with all the other Australians. Mum and Dad still have to go through the slow lane for all other nationalities. If only I could walk, this would be very handy. Still have to wait another year!

Facial expressions / Baby CPR

Last night was a bit of a rough night for Mum and Dad, because I was not so tired and wanted to play at 3am. Today Mum took me to the CPR baby class at the Maternal Health Center. There were about 25 Mums and babies between 2 weeks and 6 months of age, so it was quite fun to see all these different babies at their different development stages. I behaved perfectly, did not cry and was just looking around to see what was going on. Mum did a great job on the CPR baby and whilst she was doing that Tonya ( Connor's mum) was holding me, I was sound asleep as it was a bit boring for me.

I am now consistently taking afternoon naps of approximately 1,5 hours between 3.30 and 5am, which is great for Mum as she can finally have some time to cook and clean the house.

I am also practicing my facial expressions, especially my cranky face looks funny.
\

and this is my cute face

I change my facial expression now almost every 5 minutes to keep Mum busy. She is trying to analyze me, but every time she thinks she is on to me, I make up a new one.

Mount Macedon picknick -Gisborne Peak Winery

Dad took Mum and me out today for a nice drive (about 1,5 hrs) into the country and we had a little walk at Mount Macedon with a picknick between the trees. I am now really enjoying the car seat, I am just sitting back and relaxing and enjoying the ride.
Because it is weekend, Dad is carrying me around in my Baby Bjorn instead of Mum.
This is the cross at the top of Mount Macedon, you have a really nice view from up here ( but I am not into views yet, I am more into faces)

 Me taking a powernap again.......
                                            Mum enjoying the picknick

On the way back I even visited my first Winery at Gisborne. Mum and Dad had some lovely pizza in the sun and Mum was allowed to have one glass of the Pinot Noir.

Mum checked if I already liked the beautiful Prawn pizza, but as the picture already shows I think I will stick with the breast for a few more months.
