Last week it finally happened, I looked at my hand, made funny noises and all of a sudden it opened up and in it appeared my thumb. I knew it was in there somewhere!
I quickly tried to put it in my mouth to see if I could suck on it. Mum came running to see what I was doing after she heard the loud smacking noises I was making to keep that thumb in my mouth. The little thumb was trying to escape again back into my hand, so I had to suck really hard to keep it in.
I have now been practicing this for a little while and I now can do it already with both my thumbs sometimes. It does however happen quite often that despite me talking to my hand, it does not open up. I think my Australian hand does not understand my Dutch, so I will probably have to start talking Australian English to it soon.
